Kids Lesson Structure

Parents are asked to meet with their child at the Ski & Ride School meeting area promptly at the lesson start time. At this time you will be able to meet your child’s instructor and provide him/her with any special instructions. The instructor will also set lesson goals and ascertain that your child is in the proper lesson group.

Next the instructor will take the kids over to the learning center.  At this time, we ask all parents to remain out of sight of the lesson. There are excellent viewing opportunities inside both the lodge and the garage for you to watch your child’s lesson. Children have less separation anxiety and more success learning when their parents are out of their line of sight.

At the learning center, students will begin working on skiing or riding skills that will help students meet the lesson goal. Once the lesson goal is met, students will work on skills that will help them meet the goal of the next level. To keep your kids happy, warm, and interested, kids lessons may include a short break on the snow or inside for hot cocoa.

Because the skiing or riding experience often continues past the lesson, the last 5-10 minutes of the lesson will include a meeting with parents to go over: the lesson goals your child met, the skills your child developed, and those to practice as they ski or ride with you. The instructor will also tell you safe terrain options and the next lesson level your child should take to continue developing his/her skiing or riding skills. Please arrive at the at the meeting area 10 minutes prior to the lesson end time to ensure that the instructor has time to discuss your child’s progress.
